$25.00
“Come, God -
Bromius, Bacchus, Dionysus -
burst into life, burst into being,
be a mighty bull, a hundred-headed snake,
a fire-breathing lion.
Burst into smiling life, oh Bacchus!”
― Euripides, The Bacchae
The Bacchante or Bacchae were the followers of the god Bacchus (Dionysus) the god of wine, revelry, ritual madness and ecstasy. Taken from Jean-Léon Gérôme's 1853 painting, the Bacchante back patch measures 8x8 inches and has a golden colored merrowed border with iron on backing.
